Due to the way food labeling is regulated, a food product may contain TFA's even if the label reads "0 grams trans fat." In order to claim you have zero grams of trans fat you must have .5 grams or less of trans fat in your product. There are many products that are labeled with no trans fat that actually do contain small amounts of trans fatty acids. This is why a person needs to read the ingredients list if they completely want to avoid trans fatty acids.
